Laurent Sazy Exhibits

Laurent Sazy

Sazy's photographs of the Bwiti can only be described as amazing. Other authors such as Otto Gollnhofer and Dan Lieberman appear to focus on the minute details of the initation rites as does Sazy in his photographs as well. But, Sazy also brings us the large drama of Bwiti in Gabon depicting in some of his work shown here, a chapel of approximately ten thousand members.

Sazy was born june 3rd, 1968 in Paris, France. He was a news photo-reporter between 1992 and 1997 for press agency Gamma and then Maxppp and is currently a free-Lance photo-jounalist. Some of his photo essays include the Kurdish refugees exodus at the Turkish-Iraki border (april 91), war in Nagorny-karabagh and Armenia during the Azéris blockade (1992-93), Elections in Algeria (Nov.1995), conflicts in the Balkans: Bosnia, Sarajevo, Albania... (1992-98). His personnal work includes Marijuana & AIDS 1999/2000 and the Bwiti and iboga in Gabon 04/2000 - 07/2003.
